Windsurfing: Shoreham Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: F4-F5 Surf / Sea State: 2-3ft and no chop Air Temperature: Chilly Sea Temperature: Cold but bearable! Weather: Raining and grim Max Speed: Distance Covered:
A cold, rainy, dark and shitty afternoon - turned out to be really good
fun!
Arrived around 3pm to find a few others looking pretty unenthusiastic, but
the wind picked up a little so I decided to rig and go anyway, as did the
others. Rigged the 6.4m and bigger board ("that's practically a long-board
these days isn't it?" was the comment...).
The wind steadily picked up, until others on 5.8's were pretty maxed,
apparently. The wind was certainly howling past the sail. The Remedy once
more amazed me though, and I wasn't overpowered or uncomfortable at any
point, despite no re-rigging or tweeking.
Nice waves with very long flat sections between them (especially for
Shoreham), just a bit hard to see sometimes through the rain and quickly
darkening conditions.
Stood derigging afterwards in the cold, dark and rain, somehow this felt
like "what windsurfing is all about", as everyone else was indoors probably
complaining about the weather. Brilliant.
(oh, and the sea is now cold on the feet, but not uncomfortable. No real
need for boots yet, but there will be soon).
